Making Time for Yourself
In this busy world that we live in, making time for ourselves is essential for our physical and emotional welfare. If you're finding it hard to find that bit of 'me-time', try these following tips:
- Give yourself regular time every day to exercise and relax, and to get in touch with things you really care about.
- Add time for yourself into your daily and weekly plans, and value this as much as other tasks.
- Aim to leave work behind when you finish for the day - find absorbing interests that take over from stress.
- Be selective when catching up on chores. Are they all essential?
- Just because a request is reasonable doesn't mean you have to comply with it. Saying yes to others means saying no to yourself.
- Enjoy the moment. Don't waste time hankering after the next house, job, or holiday. Look at the things and people around you and enjoy their presence.
- Regularly use quiet time alone to think about your goals.
- You don't need to know everything about everything. Give yourself a break from the news and do something you enjoy more.
- If you're not already doing so, make time for fun: films you want to see, new restaurants to try, interesting books and CDs to buy or borrow, places to go.
- Don't forget how to be spontaneous.
